Program Highlights for Delaware

The Delaware Energy Office actively promotes Energy Star in the state and has developed a rebate program for Energy Star rated products. They will expand this program in 2007.

The State has also partnered with the EPA to advertise Energy Star Homes through a cooperative advertising program, and with builder partners, have funded a print advertising campaign as well as a television campaign where Ruth Ann Minner, Delaware’s Governor, has asked residents to do their part and buy an Energy Star Home when in the market for a new home. Even though there are no direct rebates or incentives for builders or buyers of new homes, Delaware has passed the 10% saturation mark for Energy Star Homes.

Delaware’s Green Energy Fund is providing financial incentives to install renewable energy systems such as geo-thermal heat pumps, solar electric and solar hot water collectors, as well as wind generating systems. The fund is available to both residential and commercial customers. The fund is supported by a system benefit charge to customers of Delmarva Power, the largest utility in the state, and will expand to the remaining state utilities in 2007.
